Thursday class (Nov. 29th) will have to move to Friday (Nov. 30th) this week only. Friday’s class will be from 9:30-12:30.
Wednesday class will remain the same…..if anyone in Thursdays class can’t come on Friday you are welcome to come on Wednesday or any other class over the next 4 weeks.
Sorry for the change….cannot be avoided….
I’ve been working on my corn and hope to have it finished by the time classes resume next week. Still working on the husks and doing a bit of fine tuning.
Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving full of good food and good company ♡
We had our last class at Pound Ridge Reserve this past weekend. The tall pines that fill the forests were snapped like matchsticks. Hurricane Sandy was a powerful force.
Life is finally getting back to normal and I’m looking forward to classes at Lasdon for the next 5 weeks!
Here is a beautiful example of a study page of dates by Shevaun Doherty. You can see how much time she has taken to find her colors and to get to know her subject. Click on image for larger view.

Please let me know if you plan on coming to class this Saturday at Pound Ridge from 10am-1pm ….. stay warm =)
Anyone feel like having a class on Saturday! =o) Come shake off your color pencils and watercolors!
We will have a class from 10-1pm this coming Saturday, Nov. 10th. This will be part of the past session….so the Saturday people get a bit of a break and only have to miss one class because of the hurricane.
When we return to Lasdon next week we will begin the 5 week session that will take us all to Christmas.
Anyone else from the weekday classes who would like to join us on Saturday please come!!!!! :O)
Here’s some inspiring words from Ralph Waldo Emerson….
In the beginning .. you know –
when you start something with enthusiasm and vigour, only to realise – it takes a lot of hard work and energy to create results.
Every artwork, every photo, every song, every book – begins with an creative imagination and an idea.
It’s the execution which takes hard work and skill … and constant learning.
Today has been a day wrought with mistakes – but in that place I hope, is learning.
I am a work in progress…“Every artist was first an amateur.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Here comes the N’or easter…..stay warm and safe…see you all next week!
I will happily credit $50.00 for the two classes missed because of the hurricane. You can use this credit towards the next session or a future session. For those of you who would prefer to take two extra classes instead of a credit you are welcome to do so. Just let me know when the next session begins how you would like to make up the two missed weeks….either by taking two extra classes, or by applying a two week credit to a later session. If you prefer being reimbursed just let me know.
Because of the devastation of our parks, the power outages, gas shortages and a Nor’easter moving in this Wednesday (ugh!) we will begin classes next week….hopefully life will return to normal for most of us by then…
We will begin a 5 weeks session for $225.00 on Nov. 14th. We will take Thanksgiving week off for travel and cooking! The last classes of the session will be the week before Christmas week followed by our winter break. Classes will start up again the end of January. For details please go to the “classes” section at the top of this page.
I am going to offer a watercolor class in January. It will a basic class in color, washes and mastering details with dry brush. There is no prerequisite. This will be a three day workshop. Supplies and dates and times will be posted in the next few weeks.
We will have a reception this year to celebrate your work over the last two years…a chance for you all to see each others work, and enjoy holiday treats :O) The reception will be December 9th from noon until 3pm. Family and friends are welcome! Bring in you framed pieces the week following Thanksgiving so I can hang the show =) Please bring one or two pieces framed in a simple light wood frames with white mats and wire hangers.
Please donate, if you can, to the Red Cross to help those that are still suffering and have lost so much.
Stay safe…stay warm…..
