In the month of October into early November we will be having our classes at the Nature Center in Ward Pound Ridge Reserve. We will be at Lasdon Arboretum for all classes outside of these dates.
Pound Ridge October 10th – November 3rd. Entrance to the park is free for those enrolled in class. Parking is easy with no hills or stairs to climb and it’s a just a short drive on Rt.35 from Lasdon.

We are very lucky to have two lovely locations in the Fall, each beautiful =) For class details please go to Classes at the top of this site.
The class at NYBG went well…..nice students with lots of lovely drawings. The final drawings are due by August 1st, I’m looking forward to seeing each one =)
Here are some photos of the British Soldier Lichen I took with my iPhone. The first one is a direct shot and the last three are shot through the lens of the dissecting microscope. If you look closely you can see the tiny mosses at the feet of the lichen. This British Soldier Lichen is about 1cm tall….a tiny world…enjoy!
I wish I would have taken photos of my class and students but I didn’t get the brilliant thought until I was half way up the Saw Mill Parkway =(
Every once in a while you stumble onto something wonderful on the internet. While researching mosses for my class at NYBG I did exactly that…I stumbled on an artist named Robert Muma. To learn more about this artists and his life please go to his website at http://worldofmosses.com/robertmuma/index.html
He created a beautiful series of paintings of tiny mosses….a world so often stepped over……

Andrew took the day off to hang with the pups, work in the yard and watch some soccer…..woof…..
It was a beautiful day…..I packed up all my supplies and headed down to NYBG. I have 6 students in my workshop. There were some familiar faces, people I had known from classes I had taken at NYBG several years ago and two students who knew me from Lasdon Arboretum. It’s a very nice group of ladies….
The only glitch was they had slide microscopes instead of dissecting microscopes so it was difficult for my class to see their samples. The office promised that next week they will have the proper scopes in the the class…
All in all it was a good day =)
Looks like we may get a bit of rain at the beginning of our morning….no worries, we can just sit under some shelter and sketch until the rain goes away =)
Another marker for Vickie’s drive way is a green mailbox with a pineapple on it. Follow the dirt road down to the gate. For those of you who are coming you don’t need to buzz at the gate…it will open automatically…..
See you soon….
Feeling a bit like Seattle with all this rain, rain, rain…. I’m hoping that Thursday morning will be nice for Maddi’s garden. Saturday’s weather looks like it will cooperate for Vickie’s home. If the rain is too much on Thursday we may have to move it to Friday….we can only wait and see what Mother Nature has on her calendar =)
If you haven’t already….please let me know if you plan on coming and need directions =)
