Colour woodblock print of Iris Akashi- No- Ue from the catalogue of the Yokohama nursery of Seitaro Arai which specialised in Iris kaempferi. The Yokohama nurseries supplied catalogues of plants for sale overseas, there is evidence to suggest that towards the end of the 19th Century they began to trade collectively as one company.

The Hammond Japanese Stroll Garden – Wednesday, July 1st (rain day July 2nd) June Road, North Salem, NY. The Hammond Museum has a $5.00 entrance fee. They have a cafe for those who would like to stay for lunch after class.
Lasdon Arboretum – Saturday, July 11th, rain day July 12th …. outside drawing the trees and gardens. Bring a picnic lunch =o)
The Houses of Katonah -Thursday July 16th and Saturday July 25th – a new twist! I would love to do this in an accordion journal (see drawing above)…one house at a time unfolding to a neighborhood scene. If your are interested please let me know if you would like me to supply your journal. The journal will cost $5.00. There are many places online where you can learn to make your own (use good paper).
Muscoot Farm – Sunday Farmers Market, August 2nd. The farmers market offers all sorts of hustle and bustle to draw. Great for people watching!
Each session is $35.00 + 5.00 if you want an accordion journal….this is not required….everyone is welcome to use their regular journals =)
